BASIS launches recognised storekeeper qualification for Amenity

BASIS launches recognised qualification for pesticide storekeepers in the amenity sector

Independent standards setting organisation, BASIS, has launched a new training
course and accredited qualification, specifically developed for professionals who are responsible for the storage of professional pesticides within the amenity sector.

BASIS has been successfully delivering nominated storekeeper (NSK) training
courses for over 35 years, enabling anyone responsible for storing professional
pesticides to meet the standards required stipulated within current legislation
and industry codes of practice.
The recently developed NSK Amenity course will provide more focussed training
that meets the specific requirements for professional storekeepers working
within the amenity sector.
Greg Hopkinson, head of business development at BASIS, explained how this
course has been designed to meet the requirements for anyone working within
the amenity industry who manages a professional pesticide store.
“Our nominated storekeeper (NSK) training courses provide anyone responsible
for the storage of professional pesticides with the knowledge required to carry
out this role in a way which protects the wider environment, and meets the
required standards stipulated within current legislation and industry codes of
practice.”
“However, we recognised that our current qualifications were not meeting the
specific needs for those working in industries such as lawn care, greenkeeping,
sports turf and within the amenity sector more widely. This new NSK Amenity
training course provides more focussed training on key areas which impact the
amenity sector, for example the management of small stores and mobile
storage.”
This new qualification has been accredited by Harper Adams University, and is
fully recognised by the Chemical Regulation Division (CRD) as a certificate of
competence for anyone responsible for the storage of pesticides within the
amenity sector.
The first training courses for the NSK Amenity qualification will be delivered
online from August 2021 onwards with more details available on the BASIS
website.
